I have been using Microsoft Outlook 2003 obtained with the Microsoft Office Professional Package on Windows XP of that year and having been using it successfully up to December 2009 when I dowloaded the new Microsoft Office Professional package 2007 and the Spell Check for Mricrosoft Outlook 2007 has changed to a spell check in French.

When I go into Outlook Tools-Options-Spelling and down to Language, I cannot change it from French to English as it only shows French and when you mouse clock onto the arrow (suggesting the ability to change the language0 it repeats French again.

Can I receive support from you as to how I can rectify this problem, created by I believe Microsoft, who when I made enquiry to, I recieved a technician who could hardly speak english and was impossible to follow-all I was able to interpret  from him  was I had to insert the old 2003 Microsoft disc back into the computer and go from there-which I felt a bit unsure about.

Looking forward to any assistance you may be able to give me.

Hi tstewart and welcome to Radio Geek,

Could you please confirm which version of Outlook you are using - is it Outlook 2007 or Outlook Express?

Hi Fatty,

It is Outlook Express 6 that I use and is causing the spell check problem

Thanks for your interest and sorry for the delay in this reply but have been absent for a few days.

Cheers,

tstewart

Thanks for confirming that tstewart.

It appears that installing Office 2007 removes most of the spell checking abilities of Outlook Express 6:

There are a number of ways to deal with this:

Download an alternative spell checker for OE6, there's an Australian English version available here:

or install Mozilla Thunderbird, a replacement for OE6 instead:

Let us know how you get on!

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the information.
I see when going into forum the problem occurred to everybody that did the same as I did.
I finished up downloading the spell checkedr of OE6 and all has gone well since then.

Once again many thanks for allowing me to maintain my sanity and rectifying the problem. Microsoft should account for themselves as big a giant as they think they are.

Regards,

Terry
