I have recently moved from PC to MAC but have stayed with the Office platform by purchasing Office for MAC 2008.

In my previous Office (2003) within wordart there was a rainbow facility. This appears to be missing in the 2008 version. Is there any way of reinstating this facility.

Hi there Lawriemcf,

The short answer is that I don't know, as I don't have the latest version of office on my Mac.  I have done some searches and found reference to it being found in "Word Art/Format/Colors and Lines/Fill/Fill Effects/Rainbow."

If you don't see it there - then I suspect that it is not there at all.  In which case, I also doubt that you can just add this facility to the system.

I would LOVE to be proven wrong on this one - if there is anyone out there reading this with a more informed opinion, then we would all love to hear from you!

My guess is based on the fact that their is some debate in the geek circles as to how far Microsoft is going to keep developing their wordart section of the program.  In many circles Wordart is seen as a bit to tacky/overdone for business - but others see it as a great start to type-setting/layout expression.  Having said that, I would expect that features may be lost in translation/upgrades and that the team might not be focussed continuing development on them.

Either way - what is undisputed is that Word focuses well on word-processing, and that artistic expression/design is best handled in other programs.

Hope that helps,
:)RG
